Title: Garden Snail #3: Out on a Limb
Size: 6″ w x 6″ h
Canvas Type: Gallery Wrap Stretched Canvas
Frame: Unframed; Ready to Hang
Signed: On the front
COA: Signed Certificate of AuthenticitySeries: Part of the Common Snail Series
A Teresa Bernard Oil Painting
A garden snail makes its way out on a limb in this small creature painting. This original artwork is ideal for anyone who loves snails.
The small creature painting portrays a commonplace reddish-brown garden snail navigating an evergreen branch. This piece is the third in a series of four, signed by nature artist Teresa Bernard in the lower left corner.
Snail #3: Out on a Limb is hand-painted on gallery wrap canvas. Its scaled-down size makes it suitable for tight spaces or areas where space is limited. It doesn’t require a frame before display because the composition stretches around the sides of the canvas giving it a modern look. However, if you prefer to have it mounted in a frame, it will look great in any location it’s put on display. Comes with a custom Certificate of Authenticity (COA).
‘Garden Snail #3’ gives me a nostalgic feeling for Christmas. Perhaps it’s the evergreen branch this small mollusk is perching on. The painting depicts a garden snail, a type of land snail (terrestrial gastropod mollusk), which is among the most widespread species of terrestrial mollusks globally. It is another in a series of small paintings I did of this amazing little life form. (See other paintings in this common snail series below.)

A one-of-a-kind nature painting of a common chestnut brown land snail moving around a leaf. This is one of four paintings in a series and is signed in the bottom right corner by nature artist Teresa Bernard.
This is a small painting of a common land snail measures 6×6-inches. Its smaller size makes it ideal for small or cramped areas. “Still Life” is an art term that refers to a specific genre of painting that depicts inanimate objects, which can be organic—like food and flowers—or man-made—such as books, candles, and bottles—or combination of both.
The allure of still life paintings lies in their ability to offer a fresh perspective on ordinary items. Some artists, such as Salvador Dalí and Jackson Pollock, take a surreal or abstract approach to their paintings. I’m a realist artist who prefers to paint my work as it appears in real life.

One of the things I love most about living out in the country is seeing wildlife in its natural environment. From the smallest to the largest of all God’s creatures, I love them all! I’ve painted domestic animals and wildlife from all over the world, not just those I’ve seen in the countryside where I live. Some were commissioned pet or animal portraits, while others were of wildlife that I find fascinating.

Throughout my art career, I’ve created several portraits, yet I don’t consider myself as a portrait artist. I like to depict individuals engaged in activities or absorbed in their surroundings, because these scenes tell a story. In my paintings of people, their faces are deliberately turned away from the observer. They are not intended to be conventional portraits in standard poses. The purpose is to allow the viewer’s interpretation to shape who they perceive the subjects to be. They could be anyone—your daughter, your son, your niece or nephew, your grandchild. Perhaps even a younger you.

Several years ago, my husband and I visited San Antonio, TX, the day following Thanksgiving for a long weekend getaway. During our stay, we enjoyed evening walks around the Alamo and encountered an artist who was showcasing and selling his space-themed art on the sidewalk.
What made this artist remarkable was that he painted on the spot as spectators looked on. It was captivating to watch him bring distant worlds, moons, cosmic structures, and extraterrestrial terrains to life. I observed as he skillfully used spray paint and various props to mask off certain areas of the canvas paper he didn’t want overspray to hit. Each creation was completed in just a few minutes, with every painting being unique. I was so enthralled that I could have watched him the entire night! Inspired by this experience, I began creating my own space art once we returned home.
My Space Paintings
Space art isn’t a new genre of art for me. I painted my first cosmic painting as a young teen for an arts and crafts show I entered. My love of the iconic TV series Star Trek led me to paint the “Starship Enterprise” in orbit around some distant planet. The painting garnered a lot of attention at that small art show, and later it sold. I wish I had a photograph of it, but I was a young teen at the time and didn’t even think to snap a photo of it. Besides, I was just so excited that someone wanted to pay for one of my paintings!
Decades would pass before I did another otherworldly painting, which was a commissioned piece. The painting featured a lunar landscape depicting Apollo 14’s mission to the moon and man’s first human footprint left there. This sparked a renewed interest in creating more space landscapes to add to my repertoire of space art.
I’m a huge fan of the space program. I love the idea of visiting other worlds just to see what’s out there. One could say I’m a bit of an adventurer at heart. Indeed, traversing the far reaches of the galaxy would be the ultimate adventure for me. Maybe someday I’ll embark on such a journey, but for now, I’ll have to settle for that adventure on the surface of my canvases, creating paintings that capture the essence of space.

Marine life is a broad topic. This is the section where I post paintings that have anything to do with large bodies of water. This includes paintings of lighthouses, boats, ocean-going vessels, lakes, rivers, and the beach, among others. It’s not restricted to seascapes, or ocean waves. It is for any piece of art with a marine or nautical theme.
Paintings with marine or nautical themes are soothing, making them ideal for a beach house, bedroom, living room, or pretty much anywhere you want to unwind. They’d also make great gifts for someone who loves the water.

Landscapes are a genre I paint quite frequently; yet they are not my favorite subject to paint. I paint a lot of landscapes because I enjoy traveling. When I travel, whether it’s on vacation with my family, a weekend getaway with my husband, or relocating to a new state, I take a lot of photos. These photographs serve as both inspiration and reference material for many of my landscape paintings.
I also compose paintings of faraway places I’d love to visit someday. The source images for these art pieces come from a variety of places, including stock image galleries. These websites allow free downloads and use without attribution to the site or the photographer.

Size: 20" w x 16" h
Support: Gallery Wrap Stretched Canvas

A Teresa Bernard Oil Painting
The full Moon rises to illuminate the night sky in this oil painting. This is a stunning piece of art that is ideal for anyone who loves gazing at the night sky.
This is an original painting of the full moon rising to light up the night sky. The moon appears above a line of trees that are in silhouette in the foreground and a star-filled sky in the background. This beautiful piece of art will look great in the home or office of anyone who enjoys gazing at the night sky. This piece is hand-painted and signed by Texas artist Teresa Bernard in the lower left side.
Skillfully made by hand on a gallery wrap canvas, Full Moon Rising extends its composition around the sides of the canvas. When an artwork is painted on this kind of canvas, a frame is not necessary for exhibition; yet it will still look captivating if you decide to have it framed. This moon light art piece comes with a custom Certificate of Authenticity (COA).
The east Texas moon is the inspiration behind ‘Full Moon Rising.’ My favorite time to take a walk is in the late evening before turning in for the night. On a cloudless or nearly cloudless night, I love looking up into the night sky and seeing the stars and moon. I especially love it when the moon shines so brightly that it lights up the night and makes it appear almost like day! This is just one of the many ‘bennies’ of country living.
—Teresa Bernard
The Far Side of the Moon
FYI…Did you know the common belief the moon has a dark side is a myth? The truth is both sides of the Moon see the same amount of sunlight.
The Moon makes a full rotation on its axis approximately once every 27 days. This is also approximately the same amount of time it takes the Moon to orbit the Earth, which means the same side is always facing the Earth. Astronomers refer to this as “synchronous rotation.”
Only about 59% of the moon is ever visible to Earth over the course of an orbit. The rest of the 41% — the part we call “dark” — is never visible from Earth. The “far side” of the Moon has only been seen by the human eye from a spacecraft.
