Artist Reflections

I absolutely adore bright red poinsettias! They are a staple in my home during the Christmas season. If you were to visit me at Christmastime, you’d be greeted by these vibrant flowers adding splashes of joyous red throughout the house. For me, Christmas simply wouldn’t be complete without that striking contrast of poinsettia red and green.

That love of poinsettias is what inspired me to paint ‘Red Poinsettia (The Christmas Flower).’ I wanted the bloom to fill the composition so the rich red bracts and contrasting green leaves would command attention, much as these beautiful plants do in my home each Christmas. For me, the poinsettia will always be one of those familiar sights that signals the holiday season has arrived.
