About This Painting
A red-brick lighthouse stands with quiet dignity beneath an open Carolina sky.
A red-brick lighthouse towers from the heart of a vibrant park, its rugged exterior left bare—untouched by paint—so the natural clay and russet tones speak for themselves. Nestled beside it is the keeper’s house, built of the same rich brick, creating a seamless architectural pairing. The surrounding grounds are open and tidy, composed entirely of lush summer grass. Tall trees form a soft backdrop in varying shades of green, their leaves full and vibrant in midsummer bloom. Above, a pale blue sky stretches across the canvas, dotted with soft clouds that drift gently, adding quiet rhythm to the scene. Every brushstroke is deliberate and serene, reflecting the peaceful stillness of the season. Teresa Bernard’s signature appears in the lower left corner of the painting.
“Currituck Beach Lighthouse” is an original oil painting on stretched canvas measuring 11 inches wide by 14 inches high. The canvas edges are side-stapled and left raw or unpainted. Framing is recommended prior to display. The artwork arrives unframed, making it easy to customize to your taste and interior style. A customized Certificate of Authenticity is included, hand-signed and stamped with the artist’s personal embossed seal.
Part of Teresa’s celebrated Lighthouses of the World Series, “Currituck Beach Lighthouse” honors North Carolina’s maritime heritage with realism and quiet grace. The painting showcases architectural precision, tranquil atmosphere, and a narrative style that reflects the spirit of its setting. Warm tones, balanced composition, and midsummer light give the piece a distinct sense of place and emotional depth. A meaningful choice for lighthouse enthusiasts or coastal art lovers seeking beauty rooted in place and story.

Artist Reflections
One summer, my husband Robert and I loaded up the kids and headed off for an adventure on the Outer Banks (OBX) to discover the lighthouses we’d heard so much about. We were living in Virginia at the time, while Robert was serving in the military and was stationed just two hours away from the OBX.
Currituck Beach Lighthouse was our first stop and the favorite of all the lighthouses we visited that fun-filled weekend. We were thrilled to discover we could climb the 220 steps to take in the breathtaking view from the top. We’ve been back to this lighthouse several times since that first trip, and we always enjoy seeing it again. This painting is a personal tribute to that unforgettable journey and the warm memories it left behind.
