‘White Poppies in a Vase’ came from my love of classic floral compositions and a desire to keep things simple, yet elegant. I chose white poppies specifically for their delicate petals and golden centers—they have a quiet beauty that doesn’t compete for attention but still draws you in. There’s something very calming about them, and I wanted that feeling to come through in the painting.

The vase is intentionally understated. I didn’t want anything ornate—just a soft pastel blue with a clean shape that complements the flowers without stealing the spotlight. It’s the kind of arrangement you might find in a quiet corner of a country home or on a bedside table, and I loved the idea of capturing that kind of serenity on canvas.

To me, this painting is about grace in simplicity. It doesn’t need to be dramatic to be beautiful—it just needed to be honest and inviting.
