Featuring a Line of Small Oil Paintings by Teresa Bernard
We are pleased to bring your attention to a line of small gallery-quality oil paintings. These paintings on stretched canvas are small enough to fit in tight spaces. Proudly display them where space is cramped like hallways, stairways, bookshelves, or ledges. Dress up confined areas such as dorm rooms, offices, and work cubicles. Or even on the walls of your tiny house, RV, or houseboat. These small 6×6 inch or 6×8 inch works of art will fit anywhere there is a limited amount of wall space you want to decorate or spruce up.
Teresa creates smaller paintings with the same skill and talent that her fans have come to expect from all her paintings. And even though they may be small, the art depicted on these little canvases is mighty in decorating power and impact. And as a bonus, small canvas art is an excellent way to add a personal touch to your home or office decor without breaking the bank.

Snail #3 gives me a nostalgic feeling for Christmas. Perhaps it’s the evergreen branch this small mollusk is perching on. This painting is of a garden snail, a species of land snail (terrestrial gastropod mollusk), and is one of the most widely spread species of all terrestrial mollusks worldwide. It is another in a series of small paintings I did of this amazing little life form. (See other paintings in this nature art series below.)

The view of the full moon and Earth in this painting is from the International Space Station (ISS). I composed it using a NASA photo as a reference. It was taken by an astronaut looking out the ISS’s window toward the moon.
The painting and photo I used make it appear as if the Moon is in close orbit, hovering directly over the Earth, but this is not the case. The Moon is approximately 238,855 miles away, and the ISS is approximately 250 miles above the Earth.

This faraway galaxy painting is one of several small space artworks I’ve done. As a huge fan of the space program, I’m often looking at images of distant star systems, nebulae, constellations, planets, and moons, and considering how I might compose a painting from them. Some of my space paintings are based on NASA photos, such as “First Man on the Moon,” while others are entirely based on my imagination.

Sometimes flowers can be tiny and yet still beautiful. God’s handiwork in nature continues to be an excellent source of inspiration from which to create my paintings. This dill flowers painting is a prime example. What attracts me to this composition is the feeling of abstractness one gets, but you quickly discover a close-up of some dill flowers when you look closer.
About Dill Flowers
Dill (Anethum graveolens) is an aromatic annual herb with delicate, feathery green leaves and tiny, white or yellow flowers that blossom during the mid-summer. For centuries dill was revered for its culinary and medicinal properties.
Dill is mentioned in three places in the Bible (Isaiah 28:25 & 27 and Matthew 23:23) and in ancient Egyptian writings. Once considered a sign of wealth, ancient Greek and Roman cultures used dill as currency. Today, dill is one of the most widely used spices in European and Asian cuisine.

This painting is part of the Great-Grandma’s Vintage Sewing Thread series. I call it “great-grandma’s” because we live in the modern era, and thread is no longer sold on wooden spools. Sewing thread spun on wooden spools was probably used by our great-grandmothers, but not so much nowadays.
Sewing thread is now sold on plastic spools.
Manufacturers are no longer making wooden thread spools, but that doesn’t mean they have no value. They are still useful in some ways. One advantage of these vintage thread spools is that they last a long time and can be reused in numerous other ways after the thread runs out.
I recall playing with empty wooden spools as a child. I strung them on a string and used them to make necklaces. When I played with my Barbie dolls, I also used them for doll furniture, among other things.
Vintage wooden spools are useful for a variety of arts and crafts projects. Using your imagination, you could transform them into beautiful artwork or something else that would give them new life. Use them yourself or for a project, your children could enjoy. Better yet, use them in a project that you and your children could enjoy doing together.

“Great-Sewing Grandma’s Thread #1” is a companion painting to Sewing Thread #2. Companion paintings are available for purchase separately. Whether purchased separately or together, either of these paintings will look fantastic proudly displayed in a sewing or craft room.

This painting is part of the Great-Grandma’s Antique Sewing Thread series. I call it “great-grandma’s” because we are now living in a modern age, and thread no longer comes on wooden spools. Our great-grandmothers would have probably used sewing thread spun on wooden spools.
Today’s wooden spools are over 50 years old and are considered antiques. Sewing thread is now sold on plastic spools, and most likely our grandmothers, and most assuredly, our mothers would have sewn their projects with thread spun on plastic spools.
I remember playing with empty wooden spools when I was a young child in the 60-70s. As I grew older, my grandmother began teaching me how to sew doll clothes and other items. However, I barely remember thread coming on anything but plastic spools. I remember raiding my grandmother’s sewing box for just the right color of thread I needed, and I remember finding some wooden spools there.
Unfortunately, wooden spools met their demise back in the 1970s when manufacturers stopped using them to spin thread on. It was purely a business decision. It was more cost-effective for them to use plastic spools instead. If you happen to come across a vintage sewing spool, don’t throw it away; hang on to it. Wooden spools are antiques and do have some value. Just how much it is worth depends on how old the spool is and its condition.
Companion Painting
“Great-Grandma’s Sewing Thread #2” is a companion painting to Sewing Thread #1. Companion paintings can be purchased separately. Both of these paintings would look great in a sewing or craft room, whether bought separately or together.
