A weathered rowboat rests quietly by the edge of a pier, framed by drifting lily pads and gentle morning reflections.

A lonely rowboat, aged and wooden, sits calmly moored alongside a weathered pier. The vessel’s surface is textured with painterly strokes that suggest gentle wear and use. The composition is centered, balanced, and naturalistic, with subtle ripples and shadows adding depth. This piece is signed by marine artist Teresa Bernard in the lower left corner, anchoring her authorship into the scene.

Artist Reflections

Artists frequently draw inspiration from their surroundings, and I’m no different. We live out in the country. One of our neighbors lives down the road and around the corner from us. He has a large pond near the road with a small dock and a rowboat tied to it. Across from him is another neighbor who also has a pond near the road. It’s a smaller pond with lily pads. We pass by these two ponds almost every day on our way to and from our place to the nearby towns. Over time, they’ve become familiar little scenes that catch my eye, no matter how many times I pass them. The inspiration for this painting came from our neighbor’s ponds. There’s a quiet beauty in them that I felt compelled to capture on canvas.

Artist Reflections

I’ve always found the insect world fascinating—so many shapes, colors, and functions, each one designed with intention. The Monarch butterfly is one of the more beautiful ones, and when I saw it land briefly on this orange flower, I knew I wanted to capture that moment. It wasn’t just the color or the composition—it was the sense of purpose in something so delicate. God created even the smallest creatures with care, and this painting is my way of honoring that.

Artist Reflections

Space has long beckoned humanity to look beyond the edge of the known world. It’s where science meets wonder, and where curiosity becomes ambition. The exploration of space isn’t just a physical journey—it’s a mirror held up to our need for perspective, for meaning, and for connection to something larger than ourselves. With ‘Spacewalker,’ I wanted to reflect that sense of orientation toward the unknown.

More About Spacewalkers

The subject of this painting—a spacewalker—represents a long line of astronauts who’ve ventured outside their spacecraft during missions. These extravehicular activities (EVAs) are complex, high-stakes operations requiring precision, training, and calm under pressure. Whether maintaining equipment, conducting research, or transitioning between station modules, each EVA pushes the limits of human capability.

So far, 129 American astronauts have performed EVAs. It’s a small group, but each one has played a role in shaping spaceflight history. For a list of all spacewalkers, see the link below:

Artist Reflections

I love flowers! Their quiet strength, ever-changing beauty, and the way sunlight dances across their petals always captivate me. Capturing those details up close is one of my favorite ways to paint. There’s something intimate and revealing about zooming in on a bloom. That closeup view invites us to pause and truly see what’s often overlooked.

The King Protea flower drew me in the moment I saw it. With its grand, sculptural blossom and bold foliage, it felt like royalty in bloom. It carries a certain majesty, but there’s also a softness to it, especially when bathed in warm light. That contrast—the regal presence paired with natural grace—inspired me deeply and made it a perfect subject for this painting.

About This Painting

This original painting gives the impression that you could walk right up those steps.

“Up the Steps” presents a quiet architectural vignette—stucco walls painted pristine white, stair steps bathed in light, and a lone terracotta pot gently cast in shadow. The stairs ascend toward a destination just beyond view, suggesting movement and mystery within stillness. Above the potted plant, a blue-trimmed window punctuates the scene with calm contrast, while the artist’s signature, nestled in the lower left corner, marks the canvas with its origin. Artist Reflections

‘Up the Steps’ began with a photograph—a quiet architectural moment that stopped me in my tracks. It wasn’t elaborate or dramatic, but something about those stairs pulled me in. The way they rose gently into the light made me feel as though I could walk right up and disappear into that stillness. That sense of quiet movement is what captured my imagination.

As with most reference photos, I didn’t simply recreate it—I reshaped the composition to better serve the story I saw in it. I refined angles, softened light, and allowed the scene to breathe. My brush followed the geometry with care, but my goal was to evoke more than structure. I wanted to invite wonder: What lies beyond the last step? What kind of silence waits around the corner?

This painting isn’t just a study in architecture—it’s a meditation on possibility. With each stroke, I found myself leaning into the idea that some paths don’t need a destination to feel complete.

Artist Reflections

Space has always intrigued me—not as a dreamscape, but as a place grounded in realism and vast possibility. That’s the energy I tap into when painting celestial scenes like Asteroid Collision Course.

I rely on science-based sources—such as NASA photography and authentic astrophotography—as reference points to ensure that what I create feels plausible, even at a dramatic scale. This observational approach helps me construct scenes that are informed by genuine cosmic phenomena, not imaginative reinterpretations.

This particular painting was driven by motion and impact. The asteroid isn’t meandering; it’s moving with purpose. That idea of speed and direction is something I carefully built into every detail—from placement and scale to lighting and trajectory.

About This Painting

With its faded textures and worn facade, this farmhouse reflects the grace of decay and the spirit of the past.

Cracked stucco clings to the structure’s aging bones, while a sagging screen door and weathered window hint at forgotten footsteps and faded stories. Artist Reflections

There’s something about an old farmhouse that feels familiar—like a memory you didn’t know you had. ‘Raggedy ol’ Farmhouse’ isn’t a tribute to grandeur or perfection; it’s a love letter to things that have endured. Its quiet resilience caught my eye—the way it stands, worn but still upright, as the lawn grows wild, remembering every footstep.

I set out to capture that gentle defiance—the charm tucked beneath years of weather and wear. To me, beauty doesn’t demand polish; it lives in what’s rugged, tired, and deeply rooted. I painted this piece for those, like myself, who find meaning in things that have lasted—objects and places that carry history, show their age with grace, and quietly reflect a life well lived.

Painting it felt like a conversation with the past. Every brushstroke made me pause and reflect—not just on this house, but on all the places that quietly carry history in their bones. I hope it brings a sense of ‘home’ to those who see it; however they define the word.

About This Painting

A large oil painting captures the bow of a wooden boat in a tightly cropped composition. Deliberate brushstrokes enhance the geometry and emphasize the quiet focus of the scene.

An original oil painting showcases the bow of a weathered wooden boat, closely cropped to draw attention to its texture and form. Angled diagonally into the scene, the vessel is framed by light and shadow that accentuate the warmth of aged wood and the cool tones of still water below. Sunlight grazes the boat’s forward edge, casting deep, angular shadows across the calm surface. Each brushstroke is placed with care to enhance tonal harmony and realism. Artist Teresa Bernard signs the piece in the lower-left corner.

Composed on an 18×18-inch gallery-wrapped canvas that is 1.5 inches deep, the painting is stretched across sturdy wooden stretcher bars. Artist Reflections

In a world dominated by modern materials, a traditional wooden boat stands as a quiet testament to craftsmanship and timelessness. That sense of enduring beauty is what drew me to this subject.

Artists often find inspiration through others, and ‘Bow of the Boat’ traces back to one of my early art teachers—a mentor whose love for painting boats quietly left its mark on me. I remember how he would often isolate just one section of the vessel, cropping away the rest to highlight the unique lines and textures. That concept stayed with me, and I’ve carried it forward here, focusing only on the bow. I wanted to spotlight its warm wood tones and the way sunlight grazes across its surface, allowing the boat to speak for itself through thoughtful composition and evocative light.

This piece is part of the Boat Series, which explores the quiet elegance found in everyday nautical forms. With this painting, I aim to create a moment of pause—one that encourages viewers to look closer, reflect deeper, and feel something familiar yet unexpected.

A close-up view of a zebra’s face fills the canvas, cropped tightly to emphasize the animal’s expressive eye at center. Black and white stripes curve rhythmically across the surface, creating contrast and movement around the calm, steady gaze. The eye is soft and reflective, with a quiet depth that invites a moment of connection. The texture of the fur is subtly rendered, with soft tonal shifts that suggest depth and dimension. Signed in the lower left corner, Teresa Bernard’s mark ensures originality and authorship.

Painted in oil on a sturdy 9×12-inch canvas board, the surface is smooth and archival—built for longevity and clarity of detail. The artwork arrives unframed—ideal for customizing to suit your space and style. A hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity accompanies the painting, embossed with Teresa’s personal seal. This document guarantees provenance, genuineness, and lasting value for collectors and art lovers alike.

Artist Reflections

Zebras have always intrigued me—their bold black-and-white stripes, so graphic and rhythmic, yet completely organic. Each one carries a pattern as unique as a fingerprint, and that individuality fascinates me. In ‘Eye of the Zebra,’ I wanted to move in close, to let the viewer linger with a single gaze. The eye is soft, steady, and quietly expressive—framed by contrast, but not overwhelmed by it.

There’s something meditative about painting an animal this way. You’re not just capturing a likeness; you’re listening for presence. I wasn’t thinking about a safari or a sweeping landscape this time—I was thinking about stillness, about how a single moment can hold the weight of instinct and calm. This painting is part of my ongoing interest in African subjects, but it stands on its own: intimate, restrained, and quietly powerful.

Artist Reflections

I’ve always been drawn to the idea that simplicity can be deeply engaging—and ‘The Garden Cottage’ is a perfect example of that. For this piece, I intentionally cropped the scene tightly, choosing to leave out much of the surrounding environment so the viewer could focus on just a few meaningful elements: the white-trimmed window, the textured yellow siding, the soft cascade of flowers, and a cheerful picket fence. There’s something satisfying about letting those details speak for themselves without distraction.

This compositional approach isn’t new to me—it’s a technique I’ve used in several paintings where I want the viewer to feel pulled in close, almost like they’re standing within the scene. It’s a way to spotlight the everyday beauty found in architectural corners and quiet garden moments. I find that it creates a strong sense of intimacy, and in this painting, it worked just as I hoped.
