A spacewalker is depicted in this space-themed painting. The astronaut is outside an orbiting spaceship looking toward the moon.

A large one-of-a-kind painting of an astronaut. The composition shows an American astronaut performing an activity in Earth’s orbit. The Earth, which has the North and South American continents depicted, is hovering over the spaceman’s left shoulder in the background, with a sparkling sea of stars beyond. The “spacewalker” gazes intently at the Moon, its image mirrored in the visor of the helmet. Artist Teresa Bernard signs her work in the lower right-hand corner.

This space art is painted by hand on premium gallery-wrapped canvas. It doesn’t require a frame before display because the composition stretches around the sides of the canvas giving it a modern look. The exploration of space has always captured the human imagination, inspiring writers, artists, and scientists alike. From the launch of Apollo 11 to the study of distant stellar nurseries, our fascination with space continues to drive scientific progress and artistic expression.

‘Spacewalker’ is an original oil painting of an astronaut. This artwork depicts an adventure of a lifetime as one of America’s heroes leaves the confines of the shuttle and takes a spacewalk in Earth’s orbit.

I love trees! They are beneficial to our environment and well-being. Not to mention they have such a calming effect and are so beautiful. So I thought I would share a favorite poem about trees. The title of this painting was inspired by a poem.

A Favorite Poem About Trees

Song of the Trees

by Mary Colborne-Veel

We are the Trees.
Our dark and leafy glade
Bands the bright earth with softer mysteries.
Beneath us changed and tamed the seasons run:
In burning zones, we build against the sun
Long centuries of shade.

We are the Trees,
Who grow for man’s desire,
Heat in our faithful hearts, and fruits that please.
Dwelling beneath our tents, he lightly gains
The few sufficiencies his life attains—
Shelter, and food, and fire.

We are the Trees
That by great waters stand,
By rills that murmur to our murmuring bees.
And where, in tracts all desolate and waste,
The palm-foot stays, man follows on, to taste
Springs in the desert sand.

We are the Trees
Who travel where he goes
Over the vast, inhuman, wandering seas.
His tutors we, in that adventure brave—
He launched with us upon the untried wave,
And now its mastery knows.

We are the Trees
Who bear him company
In life and death. His happy sylvan ease
He wins through us; through us, his cities spread
That like a forest guard his unfenced head
’Gainst storm and bitter sky.

We are the Trees.
On us the dying rest
Their strange, sad eyes, in farewell messages.
And we, his comrades still, since earth began,
Wave mournful boughs above the grave of man,
And coffin his cold breast.

This poem is in the public domain.

“I really do like it. What catches my eye is the brightness of the color you used sparingly to accent the leaves which draws the eyes around the entire painting. Not sure if that makes sense, but what I’m describing is a good thing. Well-done. :)” — @Who_Killed_SethRich, Gab

This large painting depicts the African Camelthorn Trees of Namib-Naukluft National Park in a surrealistic composition, but it is actually a realistic depiction.

A surreal-like painting of the famous camelthorn (or camel thorn) trees in the desert dunes of African Namib-Naukluft National Park. Artist Comments

This camelthorn trees painting was a fun one to do. At first, it appears to be a bit surreal; not the art genre that I do. I’m a realist painter, which means I try to paint things as they appear. The artwork is a landscape painting created from a photograph of Namib-Naukluft National Park in Africa. It depicts camelthorn trees with a dune rising in the background. The dune is bathed in orange by the effects of a rising sun. The trees are in shadow from another nearby dune. Some believe these trees have been dead for hundreds of years and that their failure to decompose is because the desert is so arid.

Hot air balloons, those majestic vessels of the sky, evoke a sense of wonder and freedom. As they ascend, the world below transforms into a patchwork quilt of colors and contours.

Every summer the city of Longview, Texas hosts the Great Texas Balloon Race. Dubbed “The longest-running hot-air balloon event in Texas,” this three-day festival brings professional hot air balloon pilots from all over the world to compete in the event.

According to its website, the event began in 1978 as an advertising gimmick to promote the opening of Longview’s new mall. From there, it “ballooned” into the three-day festival spectators enjoy today.

Our family attended this event one year and I got to get up close and watch these balloons as they inflated and took to flight. What a spectacular sight it was! Up, Up and Away painting was inspired by this festival’s celebration of hot air balloons.

“Very fun subject. While looking at this painting, I was thinking of the awe that little children of 4 or 5 years must experience. Since little children enjoy the handheld colorful balloons a lot, I would like to see their expressions with a sky full of these very colorful giants.” — @JosephChristian33, Gab
