This original one-of-a-kind painting depicts a beautiful Texas Longhorn. The artwork is large and would look great on the wall of any room.

A depiction of the Texas Longhorn, a common ranch animal in the Lone Star State. In the foreground, a lone longhorn is relaxing in a lush green grass meadow. There is a dense line of trees and a blue sky overhead in the background. The Longhorn is a Texas icon, and this piece is a great way to honor the history and tradition of the Lone Star State. This piece would make a great addition to any rustic, rural, or western-themed room. The painting is signed in the lower left by Texas artist Teresa Bernard.

The artwork, Texas Longhorn in The Meadow, was professionally hand-painted on a gallery wrap stretched canvas. The artist has paid special attention to extending the composition all the way around the edges of the canvas. When a painting’s composition is on this kind of canvas, a frame is not necessary for exhibition; but, if you wish to have it framed, it will look fabulous either way. With the purchase of this artwork, you will receive a personalized Certificate of Authenticity (COA).

Artist Comments

The Texas Longhorn is a common breed of registered cattle in Texas. They get their name from the breed’s characteristic longhorns. Some sets of horns on these massive bovines can reach a span of 7 feet from tip to tip. You have to see one of these magnificent animals in person to appreciate those vast horns. I live in East Texas, and there are several longhorn ranches near our small homestead. I love driving past those places and seeing the longhorns grazing and resting in their pastures. They were the inspiration behind this painting of a Texas Longhorn sitting in a meadow.

—Teresa Bernard

Some Fun Facts About the Texas Longhorn

    • The Texas Longhorn is descended from the first cattle brought to America by Christopher Columbus, which bred with native cattle. The breed is made up of around 80 percent Spanish blood and 20 percent “mongrel” heritage.
    • Texas Longhorns come in all colors and patterns, and no two look exactly alike. Their coat pattern can be flamboyant and loud, while others are more subtle in color.
    • Both male and female Longhorns have horns, although they will vary in shape and length according to gender. Longer horns are more desirable. The longer the horns, the more valuable the cow or bull. Calves will begin to grow their horns by three weeks of age.
    • There are Texas Longhorn ranches all over America. Longhorns easily adapt to all temperatures, from hot to cold climates. This breed of cattle can thrive in terrains and climates where other breeds have difficulty living.

Artist Comments

Rustic jugs evoke a sense of nostalgia and charm. These vessels, often made from materials like ceramic, terracotta, or galvanized metal, exude a weathered and timeless appeal.

‘Three Rustic Jugs’ has a folksy feel that appeals to me because of its simplicity; just three simple jugs sitting in an unpolished setting. If you like vintage, then this still life painting will work in your home or office decor.

Painting Description

This evocative composition invites viewers into a quiet rural setting, where a classic relic of the road rests beneath wide-open skies.

A once-proud 1934 Ford V8 sits quietly in the heart of a rural summer landscape. This model is similar to the one famously driven by Bonnie and Clyde, tying the scene to a storied moment in American history. Its weathered black finish is softened by sunlight and time. The paint has begun to peel, and the still posture suggests journeys long since past. Treelined hills embrace the car in a hush of green. Above, a wide blue sky stretches across the canvas, lending the scene a spacious calm. Nostalgia seeps from every brushstroke. The overall mood evokes serenity, memory, and a sense of forgotten adventure.

Painted in oil on gallery-wrapped canvas, this original 24×18 inch piece is part of the celebrated Modes of Transportation Series—a collection known for capturing the distinctive spirit of travel, legacy, and quiet motion. The image extends around the edges for a clean frameless presentation and arrives unframed—perfect for tailoring to your personal style and space. Personally signed by the artist Teresa Bernard, the painting comes with a hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity stamped with her custom embossed seal.

Whether displayed in a home, office, or curated gallery, Forgotten Roads of Bygone Days makes a compelling statement. With its timeless charm, expressive realism, and emotional storytelling, this one-of-a-kind painting invites reflection and connection—an ideal investment for collectors who value authenticity, artistry, and a window into the past.

Artist Comments

This painting features a vintage Ford V8, the same type of car that helped make Bonnie and Clyde infamous in the early 1930s. Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were notorious fugitives who roamed the central states of North America during the Great Depression, robbing and killing alongside their gang. Their crime spree ended dramatically when Texas lawmen ambushed the couple in their car, unleashing more than 100 armor-piercing bullets. Both died instantly at the roadside.

Bonnie and Clyde were laid to rest in separate Dallas cemeteries. Clyde’s gravestone reads, “Gone but not forgotten.” Today, their actual bullet-riddled death car is on display at Whiskey Pete’s Resort and Casino in Primm, Nevada. To learn more about the car and its legacy, visit Roadside America.

I was inspired to paint this piece not only for its connection to American history, but also for what it symbolizes—the passage of time and the stories we leave behind. Bonnie and Clyde met their end in Texas, just as the painting’s quiet scene hints at the closing chapters of an era. The title, Forgotten Roads of Bygone Days, carries that sense of lingering memory—where history fades but never fully disappears.

Artist Comments

There’s something about an old farmhouse that feels familiar—like a memory you didn’t know you had. ‘Raggedy Ol’ Farmhouse’ isn’t a tribute to grandeur or perfection; it’s a love letter to things that have endured. I was drawn to its quiet resilience—the way it stands, worn but still upright, surrounded by a lawn that’s grown wild but not forgotten.

I set out to capture that gentle defiance—the charm tucked beneath years of weather and wear. To me, beauty doesn’t demand polish; it lives in what’s rugged, tired, and deeply rooted. I painted this piece for those, like myself, who find meaning in things that have lasted—objects and places that carry history, show their age with grace, and quietly reflect a life well lived.

Painting it felt like a conversation with the past. Every brushstroke made me pause and reflect—not just on this house, but on all the places that quietly carry history in their bones. I hope it brings a sense of ‘home’ to those who see it; however they define the word.

Artist Comments

I’ve always been drawn to the idea that simplicity can be deeply engaging—and ‘The Garden Cottage’ is a perfect example of that. For this piece, I intentionally cropped the scene tightly, choosing to leave out much of the surrounding environment so the viewer could focus on just a few meaningful elements: the white-trimmed window, the textured yellow siding, the soft cascade of flowers, and a cheerful picket fence. There’s something satisfying about letting those details speak for themselves without distraction.

This compositional approach isn’t new to me—it’s a technique I’ve used in several paintings where I want the viewer to feel pulled in close, almost like they’re standing within the scene. It’s a way to spotlight the everyday beauty found in architectural corners and quiet garden moments. I find that it creates a strong sense of intimacy, and in this painting, it worked just as I hoped.

Below, you’ll find other works where I’ve used this same cropped perspective to capture quiet charm from an intentionally narrowed point of view.

Artist Comments

Where I live, round hay bales are part of the everyday scenery—resting in freshly cut fields, tucked along fence lines, or nestled behind barns waiting to be fed out. You can’t drive far in rural east Texas without seeing them. They speak to the rhythm of farm life, the effort behind every harvest, and the kind of work that keeps things going quietly in the background.

When I created this piece, I wasn’t just painting hay—I was painting something familiar and grounding. It’s part of a series I call “Life in Texas.” Through these paintings, I try to capture small details that reflect something honest about our way of living. The round shape of the bales. Their golden color in the late-day sun. The open field. Each element holds a quiet sense of calm for me. They remind me of how simple things, like a field of hay, can carry the weight of tradition and purpose.

This painting was made to reflect that feeling. Not just what the land looks like—but how it feels to stand in it.

Artist Comments

Composing this tractor tire painting was a little bit of an experiment for me. I like to give myself challenges now and then. With this one, I set out to see if I could paint rubber and make it look like rubber. I believe I achieved that goal.

What I like best about this painting are the various textures present in the composition — the wood, the rubber, and even the rusted metal rim. It was an enjoyable challenge painting all those textures and getting them just right. In addition, there are warm colors that contrast against the cool ones. There are so many interesting things going on in this painting; it was a lot of fun to paint!

A tractor tire isn’t something most people imagine as the subject of a painting, yet here it is—center stage and full of personality. I can picture it hanging in a man cave, an office, or anywhere someone loves tractors, cars, or just the gritty charm of rural life.

Artist Comments

Autumn has always been my favorite season. After the heat of summer fades, that first crisp breath of fall is like a welcome sigh from nature. The air feels fresher, the light gets softer, and the leaves put on a show that never fails to lift my spirits. I’m drawn to those rich, earthy colors and the peaceful feeling that comes when everything starts to slow down a little.

I also always love the charm of a rustic cabin—especially one tucked deep in the woods where the only sounds are rustling leaves and the occasional birdsong. A cozy getaway like that, simple and secluded, is the kind of place I often find myself dreaming about.

‘Log Cabin in The Autumn Woods’ is my way of capturing the feeling of that dream: the warmth, the quiet, the beauty of nature wrapping itself around a handmade shelter. I hope when someone looks at it, they feel the same sense of calm and contentment that autumn always brings me.

We Texans are a proud bunch—we wear our heritage with heart, and one way we express that pride is by painting our flag right onto the barns and outbuildings that dot the countryside. Travel through the Lone Star State, and you’ll find the Texas flag gracing rooftops and facades like bold brushstrokes of identity across the land. It’s a sight as familiar as bluebonnets in spring and sunsets that stretch for miles.

The barn in this painting is one of those iconic landmarks, nestled alongside US Highway 377 just east of Stephenville. Its weathered timbers and boldly painted flag make it a favorite among locals and travelers alike—a rural tribute to Texas grit and spirit that I couldn’t resist capturing in oil.

About the Texas Flag

Flag of TexasThe Texas state flag is affectionately known as the “Lone Star Flag.” It was adopted in 1845, when Texas became the 28th state in the Union. Its iconic design features a vertical blue field beside two horizontal stripes—white above red—with a single white star centered in the blue. This lone star represents unity across Texas and reflects our shared devotion to God, state, and country.

Each color carries its own meaning:

    • Blue stands for loyalty
    • White represents purity
    • Red signifies bravery

The Texas flag is bold in its simplicity and rich in symbolism. It’s a proud emblem painted not only on buildings, but in the hearts of Texans everywhere.

Artist Comments

Living in the countryside, I’m often surrounded by quiet scenes. They speak softly but deeply—like the one in this painting. Fence posts, wild meadows, shifting skies… These are ordinary sights, but they have a way of stirring something creative in me. They frequently find their way onto my canvas.

Fence Post in the Meadow was a joy to paint. As I laid down the brushstrokes of wildflowers and weathered wood, I couldn’t help but recall another piece from my earlier work—Fence Post in the Snow. That one was wrapped in winter’s quiet hush, while this one dances in spring’s lively bloom. It’s interesting how the same humble subject—a simple fence post—can carry such a different story depending on the season.

I suppose I have a fondness for fence posts. They stand as quiet observers of rural life. And who knows… perhaps another will turn up in a future painting, when the time feels right and the inspiration strikes again.
