A brilliant sunset in a tropical setting is depicted in this canvas painting. The warm colors make this painting a perfect addition to any coastal-themed room.

An original oil painting featuring a sunset of vibrant colors in a tropical setting. Palm trees are in silhouette against a sky of deep blue, orange, and yellow. The setting sun hovers just above the lagoon, illuminating the water. The artist Teresa Bernard has signed this oil painting in the lower left.

This small 6×6-inch tropical sunset painting is hand-painted on gallery wrap stretched canvas. Its small size makes it ideal for small spaces or areas where space is limited. It doesn’t require a frame before display because the composition stretches around the sides of the canvas giving it a modern look. Artist Comments

Sunsets in the tropics are truly something special. The combination of beautiful colors, the smell of the sea air, the feel of sand beneath your feet, and the sounds of the ocean splashing against the seashore. The rays of a setting sun have a way of making one reflect on the best things in life.

At one time or another, just about everyone has marveled at the beauty of a sunset (or sunrise) with the splendor of its red, yellow, and orange colors. It may not have been on a distant tropical island somewhere; it might have been right in your own backyard. Regardless, wherever you find yourself basking in the beauty of a sunset, it is the best place to be.

Artist Comments

‘Gone Surfing’ is a simple yet evocative phrase that captures the essence of escaping to the waves. It conjures images of sun-kissed beaches, saltwater spray, and the thrill of riding a board across the ocean’s surface. Whether you’re a seasoned surfer or a daydreamer, those two words encapsulate the freedom and adventure that await in the vast blue expanse.

When I was a young girl growing up in Texas, my family did not live anywhere near the coast. I’d watch reruns of TV shows and movies starring Frankie Avalon, Annette Funicello, and other teen idols who surfed the waves, and I would daydream about the thrill of surfing myself. Had we lived near the beach, I might have been the teenage girl portrayed in this painting. Those days have passed, and I never learned to surf, but if I had…

Artist Comments

I love lighthouses! While living on the east coast, I had the opportunity to visit several of them on the shores of the Outer Banks. I also enjoy painting them and have done so numerous times throughout my fine art career. Several of those paintings were of lighthouses I had visited while living nearby. There are, however, many others in this big world that I have yet to visit and hope to do so someday. One such lighthouse is the Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse. It is the subject of this painting.

More about Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse

Lighthouses have stood as iconic structures along coastlines for centuries, guiding ships safely through treacherous waters. Each lighthouse has its unique history, character, and architectural design and Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse is no exception.

On the sand dunes of Denmark’s North Sea coast sits a lonely watchtower known as Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse. Its beacon once stood watch, guiding ships and other watercraft through dangerous waters. Today, however, it is in danger of falling into the sea. Shifting sands and coastal erosion are major issues in the area. The coast is eroding at a rate of 4.9 feet per year.

The lighthouse ceased operating in 1968. Its buildings were then used as a museum and coffee shop for a number of years before being abandoned due to shifting sands. The small buildings were later demolished after being severely damaged by the sand pressure.

At the current rate of erosion, the tower would have fallen into the sea by 2023. However, in 2019, a preservation group set about relocating it, and the 75ft-tall, 720-ton lighthouse was moved 230 feet inland on specially built rails. The relocation is expected to ensure the lighthouse’s survival until at least 2060.

Artist Comments

The Sea of Galilee is a large freshwater lake located in northeast Israel, between the Golan Heights and the Galilee region. The Jordan River is its primary source of water. The lake is approximately 13 miles long and 8 miles wide.

My love of God’s word and Bible readings about Jesus inspired this painting of the famous Sea of Galilee. Israel is very important to me because it is home to God’s chosen people. I’ve never been to Israel, but it’s somewhere I’d like to visit someday. This painting was composed using a reference photo from the “Pictorial Library of Bible Lands.” The photographer, Todd Bolen, graciously permitted me to use his photographs for any of my Bible land paintings.

According to Matthew 4:13-22, this historic biblical location is where Jesus began His ministry and called His first disciples. This passage tells us Jesus left Nazareth and went to Capernaum. While walking along the Sea of Galilee, He called the first four of His disciples Simon (also called Peter), Andrew, James, and John.

Your Feedback

“I love it and looked at the site. The “Sea of Galilee at Capernaum” put me in mind of something by Turner or some of the Hudson River schools. Wonderful stuff.” — josisenberg, SciFi & Fantasy Writers, Gab

“I really like your paintings–the portrait of your husband is very unusual in composition and the backlighting–wish I could see it in real life. Another [painting] that really caught my eye especially is the Sea of Galilee at Capernaum–the light in the sky is particularly indicative of something spiritual, even if one didn’t know a thing about the religious significance of the place.” — Elena M., Columbia, MD

The painting ‘Kokomo Beach’ was inspired by the Beach Boys, a popular American rock band, and their song of the same name. The song tells of a make-believe island getaway off the Florida Keys, a place where two lovers can escape to get away from it all. If you aren’t familiar with the song, or even if you are, click the link below to hear the Beach Boys sing about Kokomo.
