About This Painting

A quiet kitchen moment, three aged jugs, and a weathered countertop — each bearing the marks of use, softened by time and memory.

Three rustic jugs rest on a weathered wooden kitchen countertop, set against a white plank wall with horizontal grooves. The hand-painted scene captures quiet domestic charm with soft edges, natural tones, and a warm, timeworn palette. Each jug is distinct in shape, size, and material—one is a two-toned stoneware moonshine jug with a rounded body and narrow neck. Another is a pewter-colored tin water pitcher with a wide spout and angular handle. The third is a small, dark brown ceramic container with a wire handle. Their aged surfaces suggest years of use—cool stoneware, muted metal, and glazed clay catching soft ambient light. Signed by the artist Teresa Bernard in the lower left corner, the signature ensures originality and authorship.

Painted in oil on a sturdy 12″ by 9″ canvas board, this painting offers lasting durability and archival quality. Its realism and fine detail are preserved on a heavy-duty surface that should be framed before display. The piece arrives unframed, making it easy to tailor its presentation to suit your personal style and space. Artist Reflections

There’s something quietly comforting about old jugs — their worn surfaces, humble shapes, and the way they seem to hold stories as well as liquids. I’ve always been drawn to these kinds of objects: ceramic, tin, stoneware — each one with its own texture and history. They remind me of simpler times and the quiet dignity of everyday life.

‘Three Rustic Jugs’ has a folksy charm that I find deeply appealing. It’s not a grand scene, just three well-used containers resting on a weathered kitchen counter. But that simplicity is exactly what gives this piece its strength. The muted tones, the aged materials, the unpolished setting — they all work together to create a sense of warmth and nostalgia.

If you appreciate antiques and the beauty of domestic history, this painting will feel right at home in your space. It’s a quiet tribute to the kinds of objects that often go unnoticed yet carry so much meaning.

Artist Reflections

I titled this painting Great-Grandma’s Fine China Teacup because, in today’s world of Starbucks, paper cups, and travel mugs, the tradition of sipping coffee or tea from fine china seems to be fading for many Americans—or at least, that’s how it feels to me.

I once read about a young bride preparing her wedding registry. Her mother insisted she include a set of fine china, but the bride resisted, saying it would hardly ever be used—maybe on holidays, if that. That story stuck with me. It made me wonder: have we lost something in letting go of those small, beautiful rituals?

For generations, pulling out the fine china marked a moment worth remembering. It wasn’t just about the dishes—it was about honoring the occasion, the company, and the quiet joy of sharing something special. And let’s be honest: coffee or tea really does taste better in a fine china cup. There’s something about the weight, the shape, the dainty elegance that elevates the experience.

So, what are you waiting for? Bring out your great-grandma’s (or grandma’s) fine china and use it today. Life’s too short to save the good stuff for “someday.”

Artist Reflections

‘Red and White Cosmos Flowers’ is a quiet little painting with a cheerful heart. I wanted to capture the simple elegance of cosmos blooms—the kind you might pass by without a second thought, but that have a certain charm if you stop and look. I arranged them in two small vases, letting the shapes and colors play off each other in an easy, balanced composition.

The red and white petals were chosen deliberately—they contrast just enough to keep things visually interesting without overwhelming the senses. And the background? That was all about pulling everything together. The vivid tone sets the stage, lifting the flowers forward and giving them space to stand out. It’s a painting that doesn’t fuss or shout but quietly celebrates natural beauty in an everyday moment.

Artist Reflections

Composing this tractor tire painting was a little bit of an experiment for me. I like to give myself challenges now and then. With this one, I set out to see if I could paint rubber and make it look like rubber. I believe I achieved that goal.

What I like best about this painting are the various textures present in the composition — the wood, the rubber, and even the rusted metal rim. It was an enjoyable challenge painting all those textures and getting them just right. In addition, there are warm colors that contrast against the cool ones. There are so many interesting things going on in this painting; it was a lot of fun to paint!

A tractor tire isn’t something most people imagine as the subject of a painting, yet here it is—center stage and full of personality. I can picture it hanging in a man cave, an office, or anywhere someone loves tractors, cars, or just the gritty charm of rural life.

About This Painting

Rendered in warm sepia tones, the composition reflects the atmosphere of a late 19th-century study.

A quiet tableau of vintage objects typical of a late 19th-century study sets the tone for this still life painting. The timeworn items sit across a well-worn wooden desk, its softened edges and subtle grain actively shaping the warmth and aged character of the composition. Behind them, a dark, subdued background with simple drapery deepens the visual restraint and reinforces the painting’s focus on form and material.

At the center of the arrangement, a stack of hardcover books anchors the composition, their spines obscured in shadow, suggesting age and quiet presence rather than detail. Just in front sits a single book, its spine faded and tactile, hinting at long-forgotten stories. Diagonally across its top lies a feather quill pen, its plume delicate. Nearby, a tall candlestick with an unlit candle stands upright, its waxy taper untouched—adding vertical balance to the scene. A pair of round spectacles sits open beside a filled glass of red wine, its stem catching light in a soft glint.

The entire composition is rendered in a monochromatic palette, lending a timeless, sepia-toned elegance. Signed by artist Teresa Bernard in the lower left corner, the signature ensures originality and authorship.

Artist Reflections

‘The Study’ was my first exploration of a monochromatic palette—a deliberate choice to limit color and focus on tone, texture, and atmosphere. I worked entirely in sepia, which naturally lends the scene a sense of age and restraint. That warm, muted range felt right for the subject: vintage study objects arranged with quiet familiarity. I wanted the painting to feel settled, not staged—like a room paused in thought.

About This Painting

Boat fenders rest on aged dock pilings, their surfaces marked by years of exposure. Soft light filters across timber and chain, revealing the quiet geometry of this weatherworn corner.

A quiet maritime vignette unfolds at the edge of a pier, where aged timber pilings rise, their surfaces dulled by years of sun and tide. Hanging from them are boat fenders, each one bearing the marks of wear—scuffed textures and timeworn surfaces. A rusted chain loops between pilings, its sag and patina adding depth to the scene. The light falls softly across the composition, creating gentle contrasts and a palette of deep umber, burnt orange, earthy ochre, and ruddy sienna. In the lower left corner, the painting bears the signature of Teresa Bernard, affirming both the craftsmanship and identity of the artist.

Artist Reflections

Sometimes I enjoy giving myself a challenge when selecting a subject matter for my paintings — something that nudges me to stretch my skills and lean into the details. Boat Fenders began that way. While walking near a fishing pier, I was drawn to the boat fenders hanging from a weathered pillar. It wasn’t just their placement that caught my eye, but the contrast of textures gathered in one quiet spot: the aged wood of the pier, the corroded metal of the chains, and the smooth, rubbery surface of the fenders themselves. I saw potential in capturing each surface authentically, and that challenge became the heart of the composition. Texture plays a quiet but powerful role here, and I worked deliberately to ensure those tactile qualities come through in the final piece — inviting the viewer to almost feel the scene, not just see it.

—Teresa Bernard, oil painter

What are boat fenders?

A boat fender is a type of bumper or cushioned buffer used to protect a boat’s hull. It keeps the vessel from striking a dock, pier, or another boat. This simple device helps prevent scrapes and impact damage. Fenders are usually made of rubber, foam, or plastic. They come in different shapes and sizes to suit various boating needs.

About This Painting

In quiet stillness, two clay vessels sit within a grounded arrangement of earthen textures—echoes of a humble kitchen long past.

The painting depicts clay pottery—a cook pot and oven—once essential tools for preparing meals in a typical Iron Age kitchen. These utilitarian vessels rest among rough, heavy stones, their surfaces textured and worn, suggesting years of use. A muted adobe wall forms the backdrop, soft and understated, allowing the pottery to take visual precedence. The restrained, earthy palette layers ochres, deep siennas, and cool grays to create tonal harmony. Light and shadow shape each element with precision and depth, revealing form, material, and age. Artist Reflections

‘Still Life with Clay Pottery’ invites the viewer into a quiet corner of an ancient kitchen. It is a space shaped by earth, fire, and daily ritual. The vessels are simple, unadorned, and deeply familiar. They echo the domestic life of Iron Age households in what is now Israel or Jordan. I was drawn to their quiet strength. These objects speak of sustenance, tradition, and the hands that once shaped and used them.

This painting was inspired by a photograph of a reconstructed Israelite home. I discovered it through the Holy Land Photos website. While the source offered historical context, my focus remained on the emotional resonance of the scene. I wanted to capture the warmth of clay, the stillness of timeworn surfaces, and the enduring dignity of ancient domestic life.

Artist Reflections

I painted this still life because the arrangement felt honest. It wasn’t styled or deliberate—just a bedside table with some fruit, a candle, and a goblet. What caught my attention was the natural contrast between these objects, the way light revealed their textures, and the quiet balance they held. It reminded me that beauty doesn’t need staging—it’s often already there, waiting to be seen.

About This Painting

Sun-bleached coral and a rusted lantern take visual command, their textures bold and unmistakably coastal.

In this coastal-inspired still life, two pieces of coral—one vivid turquoise, the other warm tangerine—are arranged gracefully on a round pink marble tabletop. A weathered nautical lantern stands nearby, its rusted metal surface textured with age and housing a white candle inside its glass chamber. Light pours in from a nearby window, casting crisp shadows and illuminating the coral’s ridges and the lantern’s patina. Behind the arrangement, a soft wallpaper with abstract teal and tan splashes adds quiet rhythm to the scene. Signed by the artist Teresa Bernard in the lower left corner, the signature ensures originality and authorship.

Hand-painted in oil on stretched canvas, the artwork measures 14″ wide by 11″ high. The canvas is side-stapled, with raw, unpainted edges.  It arrives unframed, allowing you to choose a presentation that complements your space. A customized Certificate of Authenticity accompanies the painting, hand-signed by Teresa and embossed with her personal seal. It ensures genuineness, provenance, and lasting value.

“Still Life with Coral and Lantern” is a composition rooted in subtle contrast, and the emotional presence of everyday coastal forms. Shaped by Teresa’s signature realistic style, the painting invites reflection and brings a touch of coastal charm to any room. Ideal for display in a coastal-themed interior, personal collection, or gallery setting. A compelling original for collectors who value fine art with clarity, intention, and lasting impact.

Artist Reflections

I’ve always been drawn to the quiet authority of everyday objects—the way they hold stories without saying a word. For this painting, I wanted to explore a coastal theme, but not in the usual breezy, decorative way. I was after something more grounded, more tactile. The coral and lantern came together as part of a deliberate search for objects that felt weathered, elemental, and full of character: sun-bleached, rusted, and unapologetically present.

I’d never painted coral before, and I’ll admit—it intrigued me. Not just for its shape or color, but for the way it suggests time and place. Here, it’s not delicate; it’s bold, almost architectural. Paired with the lantern, it felt like a conversation between two relics of the sea—each shaped by salt, light, and use.

The round pink marbled tabletop added just the right counterpoint. It softens the grit, warms the palette, and anchors the composition in something domestic and familiar. I didn’t set out to make a symbolic piece, but I do think this one carries a kind of quiet strength. It’s coastal, yes—but it’s also personal.

Artist Reflections

‘White Poppies in a Vase’ came from my love of classic floral compositions and a desire to keep things simple, yet elegant. I chose white poppies specifically for their delicate petals and golden centers. They have a quiet beauty that doesn’t compete for attention but still draws you in. There’s something very calming about them, and I wanted that feeling to come through in the painting.

The vase is intentionally understated. I didn’t want anything ornate—just a soft pastel blue with a clean shape that complements the flowers without stealing the spotlight. It’s the kind of arrangement you might find in a quiet corner of a country home or on a bedside table, and I loved the idea of capturing that kind of serenity on canvas.

To me, this painting is about grace in simplicity. It doesn’t need to be dramatic to be beautiful—it just needed to be honest and inviting.
