A wooden boat painting in a cropped composition of the boat’s bow. This large painting is simple and minimalist in design.

The painting depicts a nautical scene featuring a wooden boat, presented in such a way that the viewer is only privy to the vessel’s bow and the surrounding water. It showcases a dramatic interplay of light and shadow, alongside a juxtaposition of warm and cool tones. The sun’s warmth is palpable as it illuminates the boat’s bow, creating a stark shadow on the cool water beneath. Hand-painted and signed by marine artist Teresa Bernard in the lower left side.

Bow of The Boat is a unique oil painting that can be displayed without the need of a frame. In a world dominated by modern materials, a traditional wooden boat stands as a testament to craftsmanship and timelessness.

Artists often draw inspiration from their peers, admiring and emulating their work. The inspiration for Bow of the Boat came from an art teacher years ago. He enjoyed doing paintings of boats. In several of his works, he would focus on a particular section of the boat by cropping the rest, a technique I have adopted in this piece.

This is a realistic still life painting of red and yellow onions. I wanted to try something different than the previous still life paintings I’d done. The shapes, colors, and placement of the onions piqued my interest as well. This art piece will look great in a formal dining room, café, or restaurant.
