Still Life With Red And Yellow Onions

Red and Yellow Onions painting
Still Life With Red And Yellow Onions © Copyright 2021 – Present

Size: 18″ w x 18″ h
Support: Gallery Wrap Stretched Canvas
Description:  A still life painting featuring a pile of red and yellow onions against a dark backdrop. This is a colorful and vibrant painting, which makes it very eye-catching. Strong lighting is effectively used in this composition to highlight the texture of the onions, making them more appealing to the viewer.

This still life painting is composed on gallery wrap stretched canvas and does not require a frame before display because the composition extends around the edges of the canvas surface. Hand-painted and signed by fine artist Teresa Bernard.

Artist Comments

This is a contemporary still life painting with red and yellow onions. Why did I choose to paint this? I wanted to do something a little different from the other still lifes I’ve painted in the past. The shapes, color, and placement of the onions appealed to me as well. This painting would look great in your formal dining room, a café, or a restaurant setting.

Artist Comments

“Still Life” is an art term that refers to a specific type of painting. Its subject matter is typically composed of inanimate or “still” objects that are either organic such as food or flowers, or man-made like books, candles, bottles, etc. Furthermore, the composition is usually created to serve the artist’s purpose.

The allure of still life paintings is that they can provide us with a fresh perspective on the objects we see every day.

The Study

the study vintage painting
The Study © Copyright 2004 – Present

Size: 14″ w x 11″ h
Support: Traditional-style Stretched Canvas
Description: This painting depicts a vintage-style still life of objects which would typically be found in a home office or study. The still life consists of a stack of hard-cover books, a feather quill pen, a candlestick sitting in a tall candle holder, and a pair of spectacles and a glass of wine; all sitting on top of an antique wood desk. The monochromatic (limited color) palette it is painted in gives this painting a vintage look. The painting is signed by fine artist Teresa Bernard.

The Study is a vintage still life painting hand-painted on a traditional-style stretched canvas with the sides left raw or unpainted. It will need to be mounted in a frame before it is put on display. Adding a frame will give the painting a finished look.

Artist Comments

The Study is the first painting I’ve done using a limited color palette. What this means is that I deliberately chose to restrict the number of paint colors I used when doing this painting. The sepias I chose to use in this still life give it a vintage look.  This would be great wall décor for an office, study, den, or even a “man cave.”

Artist Comments

Still Life with Clay Pottery is a monochromatic painting that features everyday household items that would have been found in a typical kitchen in Israel or Jordan during the Iron Age (1200-586 B.C.). While visiting the “Holy Land Photos” website, I found some interesting photos of a reconstructed Israelite House on display at the Haaretz Museum in north Tel Aviv. This painting is from one of those photos.

Still Life with Fruit and Candle © Copyright 2004 – Present

Size: 14″ w x 11″ h
Support: Traditional-style Stretched Canvas
Description:  A still life painting featuring a bedside table with fruit and candle. It features an assortment of fruit consisting of grapes, pears, an apple, and a plum sitting in front of a rustic candle on top of a wood planked table. A metal goblet sits near the edge of the table. In the background is red drapery and pillow which complete the composition. All of these elements help to give this painting a European look and feel. It is signed by artist Teresa Bernard.

Still Life with Fruit and Candle is hand-painted on a traditional-style stretched canvas. This painting with its unpainted sides requires a frame to give it that finished look for exhibition in your home or office.

Artist Comments

An artist’s inspiration can come from many places. A bedside table with an interesting table setting of fruit, an old candle, and a metal goblet was the inspiration for this still life painting.
