Customer Feedback

“It looks absolutely stunning. You’ve beautifully captured the concept we wanted.” — Steven Sisolak, MindSlicer, Bloomington, IN

Artist Comments

The Beautiful Infinite is a commissioned painting that I did for the band members of MindSlicer, an alternative music group. They contacted me because they liked my artistic style and especially my space art paintings. The band wanted to know if I would be willing to create a painting for them to use as the cover for their upcoming album.

My Assignment

Compose a painting that emphasizes the infinity of space with thousands of visible stars and galaxies. It needed to be colorful and vibrant to balance the colder night sky with equal parts of warmth.

In addition, the composition needed to include the silhouette of a person standing on the bank of a river or edge of a precipice. This person holds a balloon and is partially floating up into the air as if the balloon were trying to carry him off into the starry night sky.

Artist Comments

I painted Starry Night with Lone Scraggly Tree because I wanted to do a night sky painting with the Milky Way. I have done a number of space paintings, but only a few of them depict space closer to home, Earth. There is so much out in the vastness of space to paint, galaxies, nebulas, suns, planets, gasses, stars, etc. I don’t think I’ll ever run out of subject matter to paint in the night sky or outer space.

Starry Night… reminds me of Psalm 19:1 which tells us “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.”

As I view Starry Night…, a Christian worship song I often hear on the radio comes to mind. You can listen to it here “God of Wonders Beyond Our Galaxy” by Chris Tomlin. I have the lyrics below so you can follow along with the song.

God of Wonders
~ Chris Tomlin

Lord of all creation
Of water, earth, and sky
The heavens are Your tabernacle
Glory to the Lord on High

God of wonders beyond our galaxy
You are holy, holy
The universe declares Your majesty
You are holy, holy

Lord of heaven and earth
Lord of heaven and earth

Early in the morning
I will celebrate the light
And as I stumble through the darkness
I will call Your name by night

God of wonders beyond our galaxy
You are holy, holy
The universe declares Your majesty
You are holy, holy

Lord of heaven and earth
Lord of heaven and earth

Artist Comments

Full Moon Rising was inspired by the east Texas moon. This is a painting depicting a full moon rising with a star-filled sky in the background. Ever since man first looked up at the stars, he has been fascinated by the giant sphere that hangs in the night sky above us, and this particular artist is no exception. My favorite time to take a walk is in the late evening before turning in for the night. I love looking up into the night sky and seeing the stars and the moon on a cloudless or almost cloudless night. I especially love the times when the moon shines so brightly it lights up the night to so it looks almost like day! Just one of the many “bennies” of country living.

The Far Side of the Moon

FYI…Did you know the common belief the moon has a dark side is a myth? The truth is both sides of the Moon see the same amount of sunlight. The Moon rotates around on its axis about once every 27 days. This is approximately the same amount of time it takes to orbit the Earth, which means the same side is always facing the Earth. Astronomers call this phenomenon “synchronous rotation.” Only about 59% of the moon is ever visible to Earth throughout an entire orbit. The rest of the 41% — the part we call “dark” — is the part we never get to see from Earth. The “far side” of the Moon has only been seen by the human eye from a spacecraft.

Artist Comments

Some of the most gorgeous sunsets in the world happen right here in Texas, but of course, I might be just a tad bit biased. I love the bright, colorful sunsets that I get to enjoy almost every evening. And I also love the idea of cowboys, horses, and the Old West.

This painting with a cowboy gazing off into the sunset reminds me of my childhood where pretty much all you could watch on TV were westerns. It was a fantasy life all us kids dreamed about living someday. We would pretend to be cowboys and rode imaginary horses for hours until mom called us in for supper.

When my husband decided it was time to retire from the Navy and settle down to live life as civilians, we bought some land and built a small ranch in East Texas with a couple of horses, a donkey, and a few heads of cattle. It was our dream to live the cowboy way of life.

I don’t know the cowboy in this sunset painting, he’s just a cowboy.

“Very impressive! I’m not an expert but I hate modern art. To me a real artist can capture a magical moment in time and share its essence with the world. Most “experts” lost credibility with me when they started pushing crap that could be duplicated by preschoolers. I think we’re all learning a lot about the “crap art” scam from Hunter [Biden].” ~ Dustythepainter, Gab

Artist Comments

This Calvary sunset painting is a religious-themed landscape painting portraying the cross in silhouette against a colorful evening sky. One should not consider this painting as a literal representation of the crucifixion of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Instead, it depicts that moment in time just after the disciples took His lifeless body down from the cross.

The Holy Bible tells us about this momentous historical event throughout its pages. From Scripture, we learn that Jesus Christ endured the crucifixion from approximately 9 A.M until 3 P.M. and that His dead body was removed from the cross just before sundown.

The four New Testament Gospels also describe a supernatural phenomenon that occurred at the moment of His death.

What we Learn from the Four Gospels

    • Matthew mentions an earthquake, the opening of the saints’ tombs in the vicinity, and the resurrected saints making an appearance in Jerusalem.
    • Mark reveals that darkness spread throughout the land, and the temple veil was ripped in two.
    • Luke tells us Jesus was crucified with criminals and that the Roman soldiers mocked Him and cast lots for His clothing.
    • John describes the soldiers twisting a crown of thorns together and putting it on Jesus’ head; and that Jesus was crucified at Golgotha, which means the place of the Skull.
